Ok,I made the mistake of stopping in the cabelas in Hamburg PA yesterday while on my way from ohio to NJ to make my delivery and I saw a Pedersoli Blue Ridge .32 in the bargain bin marked down from $600 to $450..It looked great and sparked great so I saw some pistols in there too so I asked to see an 1862 Police in .36..I didn't know you could haggle with them at cabelas but you can..I got them both for $600  ...
Anyway now I just have to get them home and give em a try..I bought some .315 balls but the book recommends .310 balls so I ordered some from TOW..What loads do you all use in your .32 longrifles???
I'll post a pic once I get back home..

for small game like rabbits and squirrel I use a .310 ball with 25 grains of FFg goex and a .10 oxyoke prelubed patch. For bigger stuff like small wild hogs, doe deer, turkey and yotes I use 40 grains of FFg.

I've been shooting 15 grains of FFFg an over powder wad and .310 or lately .311 prb.......watch yer top knot...........

All I have is FFFG so I'll give that a try..I did get an assortment of lubed patches to try though.. .005,.010 and .020 and some lubed wads but they say there for .31cal but they might work..

Great find Fred  . According to Cabela's web site, they no longer offer the Blue Ridge in .32 or .36 calibers. It also looks like the .45, 50 and .54 Blue Ridges went up in price again. Those semi custom rifles are looking better pricewise.

In a recent flyer from Cabela’s there is and ad for a Cabela’s Blue Ridge rifle in 32 for $479.88. The order number is 41A 21-0007-032. It is however a cap lock.

Congratulations Fred,

That's a good buy.

My .32 isn't a Frontier, but since it has a tight bore, I prefer .300 balls over .310's. I use a .015 cotton patch and 20 grains of 3f. Works great for squirrels.

Enjoy your new rifle!

:hatsoff:

Because of your posts, I went to Cabela's site and A LOT of their blackpowder stuff is on-sale. Just bought a .36 1851 steel frame for $179!!

Now I just have to explan the "deal" to my wife.

James

I feel your pain! They have the Pedersoli 20 ga double barrel shotgun on sale too. I love my 12 ga.
Got any explain-to-the-wife tricks you can give me?

The accuracy load in my Crockett is .311 ball, .015 patch, Hoppes #9 Plus BP lube and 30 grains of Goes 3f.

Arrrgh....Oh, I am jealous...the pain....

Thanks guys,I made it back home with em without incident..I don't think I am supposed to have em in my semi so I was relieved to get them home  ..I will try it out this weekend and see what it will do..I bought a box of .315 balls which will probably be too big but I did find 5 .311 balls in my junk box so if the .315 won't work I can try it 5 times anyhow..

I sure will,I am excited about the purchase and if I had known I was going to be this giddy about wanting to shoot the thing I would have had TOW overnite me a box of the .310 balls when I ordered them :cursing: ..Patience I guess :haha:
Oh,I took a couple pics but you all know what it looks like..Thanks again

I use .311 in mine, hope you got a good lock. Mine not the best. Also have to watch the breech area as it is easily plugged up if not care full. I always clean after a shot, spit in the field, have to watch and don't push fouling in breech. I shoot groundhogs and squirrels with .20grs of 3ff,pillow ticking patch, deer tallow lubed. Have fun. Dilly

The lock looks good and the hammer and frizzen looks like the line up just fine..The frizzen spring sure is strong though..Someone said they must use Mack Truck springs on there frizzens and I see what they were talking about now. :rotf:

hey fredrader,i found a .36 flinter at cabelas in sidney,ne.threw on the top bunk and carried with me for about 3 weeks.just dyin to get home and shoot it.i hope you're as pleased with yours as i am with mine.i head right for the bargain cave, don't look at the rest of the store.

I do the same thing,Straight for the bargain cave..I took mine apart to see how it came apart and it is easily disassembled for cleaning..Just 2 screws under the brl and one tang screw and one lock screw and the brl is off..One more screw and the lock is out and one more screw and the triggers are out..I will shoot it tomorrow and see how it does..
Here are some pics of the parts..Oh,It has 35 stamped on the breech plug/Tang and on the brl just in front of the plug/tang :idunno: I don't know what that's all about though..
