I just bought the fairly new Pedersoli 3 band Enfield. It's a beautiful rifle but haven't shot it yet as I'm up to my armpits in snow. It's .577 Cal. and I made some .575 minie balls from a lee mold. The twist is 1-78 so may get a RB mold also. My question is has anyone tried the rifle yet? Would be interested in any thoughts you may have. Thanks

i have one, so far it seems to shoot well. i have a new wilkinson .577 bullet mold to try it's just cold out right now.

btw, the barrel channel will be milled too deep. you will have to bed it.

Be choosy about the method you use to bed it. Even if the owner is fine with glass bedding compound, its a pain for the rest of us to buy a secondhand rifle and discover its ineligible for competition.

Chris, Which competitions are you refering to? Which method would you advise as best? I have used Brownells for many moons and have been satisfied with the results. I agree that most Italian Enfields would benefit from glass bedding and lock tuning, I just never realized that there was a controversy over competitive elegibility or methods in the bedding process. Cheers, Bob E

the only competitions i'm aware of where glass bedding is prohibited are MLAIC competitions. glass bedding is allowed in both NMLRA and NSSA.

Glass bedding is also allowed in NRA black powder target rifle events.
