Today at Cabela's I seen a Pedersoli Hawken Rifle in what I thought was .54 cal but it may have been .50 cal. It was on the clearance rack with damage for a little over $250. The only damage was the bottom corner of the butt was chipped off which left some space between the but and brass. I myself would just 45 degree that corner and clean it up, probably would never know it was chipped at one time.

Is it worth the price? It was a very nice looking rifle, a little heavy but very nice.

I have that rifle in .54, and I really like it. Admittedly, I've only had it to the range once, and I don't have a ton of experience anyway.
Having said that, it is light and nice to handle and point, balanced, and once I got the sight adjusted to paper it was shooting well. I'm still working on a load, and I really don't like that fiber optic rear sight (which is going to be replaced), but it seems like a quality gun to me. I am happy at $399, so $250 would be a steal.

If the damage is not a problem for you, go for it because the price is very good.

used or new? if its been used, dig deeper to find any underlying issues.
if its brand new and on clearance because of the chip in the stock, i'd say its a good buy.
