I already have a 1842 rifled musket, have decided I want a smooth bore musket. I am looking at the 1795 or the 1816, would appreciate and thoughts or opinions on these rifles. I have been told the 1795 is the better choice but having never owned a smooth bore so don't know, thanks for any info giving

Go for the M1795, it is a better reproduction than their M1816.

Master Blaster, are you sure he is shooting a .575 RB in is .69 caliber musket? In N-SSA competition? The standard US ball for use in original cartridges was .64 - .65 and most modern competition shooters use a larger ball - in the neighborhood of .675.

Personally I always found the .64 caliber ball did very well in modern shooting of the .69 smoothbore.
