Pedersoli Flintlock pistol? A local gun shop has a 44 cal. pedersoli flintlock pistol, it has some small dents in the wood but not bad and the barrel has some surface rust that will come of with little work. In the barrel looks as if it has not been shot, (at least not much) the riflings look ok. Some small rust spots in the barrel. Now my question what would one of these guns be worth? They are asking $275.00 for it.
On the barrel it is stamped made in Italy for Marietta OH :hmm:

Is the barrel stamped 44 caliber? Or is that what the store owner says? The only Pedersoli pistols I know of that are 44 caliber are the Kuchenreuter at $1350 and the Mortimer at $900. If the pistol you are talking about is either of those, you should pounce on it ....fast!
Just noticed another 44 in the Dixie catalog/web site: LePage at $975

If this is the Pedersoli Kentucky Pistol you may want to ask the seller if you can remove the muzzle cap.

This is held on by a small screw coming in from the bottom ramrod channel and is easy to remove.

The reason for wanting to remove the nosecap is it serves to retain the front of the barrel by catching on a small protrusion of wood at the front.

These small protrusions of wood have been known to break off which will result in the front of the barrel not being held in place properly.

If the gun's stock is broken in this area it would greatly diminish the value of the gun.

By the way, fixing it can be accomplished by adding a barrel underlug and cutting a mating groove in the stock to clear it. Then a 5/64 diameter hole can be drilled thru the wood and the underlug to pin the barrel to the stock like it should have been when Pedersoli made it.

It is a 44 cal. for sure. It is stamped on the barrel. Also stamped on the barrel made for Marietta OH

Pedersoli stamped on the barrel and made in Italy
is stamped on the barrel. I am going back to take a closer look and just might come home with me?
I will let you know how things turn out and maybe some pictures if I can get by the wife. :hmm:
Thanks

in my book there's one called the "charles moore" .44, flint, 11" octagon blue barrel, brass furniture, adj. trigger, hand checkered walnut, 2.5 lbs that goes for $355 (in 100% condition).

there are other .44 flintlocks like "kuchenreuter" and "le page" and "mortimer saw handle" and "mountain kentucky" and "pennsylvania" ranging from $1125 to $150..

without having more of the physical details, i cannot narrow it down.

Here is mine:

I think this is the pistol Billy goat is talking about. Mine was made 1969 with a date code of XXV
it is a .44 cal. The newer ones are .45 cal.

That looks very much like the one for sale that is priced $275.00 but it has a few dents in the handle. Some small rust spots on the barrel.
THANKS.

Pedersoli Kentucky

Pedersoli Charles Moore

ok, there is a "kentucky bounty" in .44 and the barrel was 16.6" list used at $265 (100% mint) to $115 (80% shooter).

if it's the charles moore, we do have .44, octagon blued barrel, brass furniture, checkered walnut grip and lists used at $355 (100% mint) to $185 (80% shooter).

scalper's item looks most like the kentucky because the moore has the half stock with stainless steel barrel.. oddly, pedersoli doesn't make a plain kentucky in .44 - presently only .45,.50, and .54...

can you find the mfg date on your item ?
