Just picked one up at an auction. She needs a little TLC and a trigger guard. Anyone have the correct trigger guard laying around in their spare parts box that might need a new home? I emailed VTI REPLICA GUN PARTS and LEE SHAVER. Hopefully I can find a replacement one at a reasonable price.

If I'm unable to locate an exact replacement... If someone has this same model rifle, can you take some photos of yours? I might get lucky and be able to fit something that has a close resemblance to the original factory one.

Does anyone have any history with one of these rifles? Favorite loads, memorable hunts?

Thanks

Okay, your rifle has no mammary glands and is not a she.

Call Richard at Flintlock Lock Etc.

He can solve your problems.

These folks may have what you are looking for

These folks also have a tremendous supply of odds and ends for various kinds of muzzleloading guns. I have been there and they are like the old hardware store where you walked in and asked for a left handed washer for a kavetsel valve and the salesman would say "Yeah, I think we have one back here." and would go back and rummage through some drawers and come back with what you wanted. That's Deer Creek Products.

Thanks everyone for your input. The emails I sent out haven't provided me with any leads. I'm going to run up to Fort Chambers, hopefully this week, and see what style trigger guards they have in stock and see if I can find something that will work. Once I get it all cleaned up and together, I'll take some photos and post them. Thanks again all.

I take it you never got a photo like you want? I looked in an old BP book I have and there is a 38 cal Plainsman rifle. It doesn't say who made it, just says "Richland" but I would be willing to bet it was made by Pedersoli.

According to Pedersoli, the trigger guard for the Plainsman is the same as their current production Kentucky rifle. Taylor's & Co shows it on their website for $34.25 plus postage. Before I place the order, I'm going to run up to Fort Chambers and check there. I figure it's a good excuse to drive up and wonder thru their shop.
