Hi all

Do any of you know anything about pedersoli's side by side slug gun. Im actually interested in buying a kodiak double .72 but they are a bit pricey for me. There is also a lot of guinnea fowl where i go hunting. I would like to carry shot in one barrel and a prball in the other for warthog.

Does anyone have loading data for this 12gage smooth bore? Im mainly interested in prball data.

Is a 12gage the same calibre as a .72????

Thanks for any info that is given.

I'm not familiar with that specific gun but have gotten good accuracy from ball in several side by side 12's. The combo which worked for me was a .648" hard cast ball inside a 12 gauge plastic shot cup loaded atop the usual hard card overpowder wads and 90 grains 2f or Pyro RS. That shot surprisingly well from at least one barrel of the three different doubles I have owned and could be loaded past their fixed chokes without much trouble. I was well impressed with the results on the one deer I shot with that hard ball. I often carried the doubles as you describe, with shot in one barrel and ball in the other.

If you are going to try to shoot shot out of any rifled barrel, patterns are not going to be very good, no matter what you try. The rifling spins the shot column, so that you often get a spiraling pattern on target. Lots of gaps for a bird to escape through.

I have one and find it shoots a .69 round ball patched with a thick cloth patch soaked in lard quite well, but need to use less powder in one barrel than the other to get good consistancy with ball placement at 50 m. Using shot is a little less good. I use a plastic shot cup and 777 when shooting shot. This gun has a fold down site to use when you are shooting ball. Great gun, quite short so that may effect the patterns with shot. Both barrels are cylinder.
