Hi Fellas
I was trying out some iders on the range this weekend. I want to use my double 12 navy arms fowler for well.. every thing. Rebel gave me an ider or two. I found a local molding guy who moulds a 525 grns air gun pellet like slug. The slug has a hollow skirt (very thick) on the back and a flat nose. These darn the things when loaded with 95 grns of Geox a over powder card a cushion wad the slug and then an over shot card to hold the looose slug in place ... printed 1 1/2 inch pattern at forty measured yards!!! From both barrels 4 shots 2 from each were all less than 1 1/2 inches apart and right on the cash!!! YOU guessed it now I am looking for the that mould... Has any of you fellas have an ider as to were i could find one? Or what's the name of this slug type... it's not on the package.
I also tried steel shot over the same powder load with a over powder card, cushion and steel shot wad from Precission loading... Bang dead on ... I will keep my Navy arms fowler for sure. Thank you for the input guys ...
Best regards Loyalist dawg... good hunting and long live the king!!!

loyalist dog your in luck here, lyman makes the mould still its a 525 grain slug the part number 778-041 but the price tag is high, if you get the chance to load it with a .690 ball and wads it will work just as good and cheeper too lee makes a good mould ,or if you shoot a bess the same balls should work to they do with mine with a patch and make a dangerous deer slayer. bb75

If you loaded it backwards it would make one heck of a hollowpoint... :winking:

Thank you Big bore
Yea this forum is truly amazing. The users are a great bunch of people. I can't believe the great responses I get from my questions. My Queen's Rangers group (up here in Canuck land or also know as the "great red" Oops I mean "great white" North ) use the Bess also, (when we do re-enacting of the rev war yep we are a loyalist unit ). Between us we have collected a large variety of molds to choose from, and this one will be added. Thank you and I will see if I can pick one of these up soon. "O" yea, I will also try the 69 ball. Your reply, and information is greatly appreciated Thank you agian Loyalist Dawg :hatsoff:
"Long live the KING!!!"
