Pennsylvania Long Rifle with Miquelet?

Very interesting but I wouldn’t call that a Miquelet lock, that’s a lock with a conventional main spring and I’d guess a normal scear arrangement under the cover.

Influenced by a Norwegian or Swedish snap lock? You do see some different percussion lock arrangements now and again on American long rifles.

Yes, there would be 2 sear noses projecting through the lock plate from the inside, one for 1/2-cock and the other a full cock notch, if indeed a true Miquelet lock.

Hmmmm. Looks like some hybrid style of lock. Not a miquelet. But appears the maker's goal was to have all of the working parts on the outside of the lock plate, except the trigger bar. Would be interesting to see whats behind that plate.

Have seen a couple of similar guns and two advantages that come to mind are a stronger stock and a lot less work inletting.
