I have a question...I am needing to know if their is a significant quality difference in percussion locks made by Pedersole and L&R. I am considering purchasing a rifle and have found two that I am considering. The main difference is the lock. I am not had a Pedersole rifle so I have no experienced with them. So please chime in with some advice.

So you’re comparing a Pedersoli rifle and what I assume would be a custom rifle with an L&R percussion lock?

Don’t look too hard into it. A percussion lock is very simple. Much less variables than a flint lock. For what it’s worth, the L&R lock on my custom percussion rifle is super nice and smooth. Also, the percussion lock on my Pedersoli percussion pistol is also really nice.

I've owned Pedersoli, CVA, Traditions and many other percussion guns. Never was there an issue with any of them; it's pretty difficult to screw up building a cap lock. They are very simple beasts.

As folks have written, it's tough to screw up a caplock lock. The only difference with Pedersoli locks that I've seen compared to a brand like L&R, is that the cost of replacement springs and screws for a Pedersoli tends to be rather high. If you bugger up a screw or snap a mainspring, it will cost more from what I've seen in the past to replace the parts if it's a Pedersoli lock.

Appreciate the feedback. You reinforced my observations on the lock choice. I have not had much trouble with any cap locks I have owned, other than those caused by old age. If it was flinter, I would be more selective. So I have made the offer on one of two rifles and we will see if Santa has me on the nice list. Merry Christmas to all!
