Opening day of deer season, what will you take, percussion, wheellock, matchlock or flintlock???

Does it depend on the weather?

flintlock as it's the only gun i have at this time....

will be at the range a week from monday to see how it shoots since the stock job.......................bob

This year it'll be a .58cal Flintlock and I plan to use it even if there's a little rain which is normally good deer hunting weather anyway...I load the rifle (minus prime) before I leave the house anyway and have learned I can keep the lock warm & dry up under my coat/rain gear on stand.

If it's really raining hard and heavy and I still want to go, I might drag out one of the cap guns...but suspect if it's raining that hard, I'll just crawl back under the electric blanket with the Chief-of-Staff!

My matchlock will go out on the opener. It has put at least one deer in the freezer every year that I have taken it.

Hey Musketman, if you are willing to pay $5 to see something, imagine the size of the patch knife you could of bought from sse   .

Brand new Austin and Halleck .50 cal with 1 in 60 twist. So far I've worked it up to 90 grains of FFg with prb. I'm still filing on the sights in order to get it to shoot high enough to be useful. :)
