Went after squirrels with a flinter this morning...didn't see a hair in 3 hours.
BUT.....I stumbled across a heavily used deer trail in a section of bottom I hadn't explored before, leading up to a few acres of thicket...and 30-40 yards from a spot on that trail is a perfect natural ground blind...about 20' up a hillside overlooking the floor of the bottom.
A gigantic white oak tree probably 100' tall and about 3' thick uprooted recently, and when it fell over the ends of a lot of uppernmost branches came down on both sides of another big tree...sitting at the base of the good tree, the blowdown's limbs form a big "V" around the base, sticking out 8-10' past it on either side.
Going to trim some shooting lanes and get it prepared...will definitely try it this fall...heck it's only 9-10 months to the rut...gotta get started!
