Today was one of those days that any squirrel hunter looks forward to.

A cold front and some rain passed yesterday, leaving the air cool and the leaves wet for a quiet trek through the woods.

The blue skies were enjoyed with two friends inside of the hardwoods of Southern Indiana.

I was happy to take a limit of five with my fowling piece with just as many shots. The Skychief Special loading continues to impress!

Did I mention how much I'm enjoying this flintlock "fowler" in the field? I'M ENJOYING IT!!!!! :haha:

Good luck to you all, Skychief. :hatsoff:

Good for you man. Sounds like you're having a great year. Still have yet to get out in the bushytail woods. Hoping to change that this weekend.

Sounds like a perfect way to spend the day. Nice when the woods are damp and quiet like that.

I was doing some quiet, slow-moving deer scouting for new stand location yesterday and had squirrels all over! Kicked up a dandy 10 pt too. No gun shooting this time of year on the lease, so wasn't hunting as well, but it would have been an "easy" limit if I could. Fun to just mess with them by squeaking and chattering at them a bit at very close range. This time of year they seem so much more at ease. Once the leaves drop, they seem to get a lot more spooky even without human hunting activity earlier in the season.

I so miss hunting bushytails with my flintlock!

I still want to thunt them in every state that has a season! It's on my to-do-list!
