What dose everyone wear who hunts in a state that requires hunter orange do to hunt in a period correct way? I know you can get an orange Toque and someone is making an orange wesket but any other ideas? An orange cape for a hunting shirt?

This is how I handled it:

I have a long (F&I) reversible orange/green wool weskit from Michael Pullins (Ohio Valley Peddler) - no website but he can be reached at (419) 946-6174 or [email protected] - I like it a lot (an extra layer for warmth, too).

I've got one of these reversible weskits from Michael. I haven't used it yet but plan on it the season.

R B, That looks like one of Santas Elf's in the pointed hood, or is that old St Nick himself? :rotf:

Since hunters orange is not PC in any form, I just wear an orange "modern" vest or jacket and cap with my duds. The wool toque in orange is an old standby for cold weather.

I certainly understand you aversion Mike, but orang is still just a color to me. I'd prefer an historical garment to a modern one. I read muzzleloader's review of Michael's weskit, and I think he hit on a wonderful idea with the reversible vest. the only problem I see for deer season is the temperature, I usually need more protection than a westkit can provide. I have a buddy who had some tuques made from hunter's orange wool, and since Mi doesn't have a percentage requirement, I've lat that stand for my HO needs. (I still want one of Michael's weskits though!)
