It's been a great season...two weeks of very long days on this 60 year old body, but I'll try again next year. And it really says a lot about the efficiency and reliability of Flintlocks and patched round balls doesn't it...in this case, hat's off to Thompson/Center, Goex, OxYoke, and Hornady.

Simply 100% instantaneous ignition, reliability, and accuracy with that set of products each and every time I squeezed the trigger...I no longer even think about the fact that's it's Flintlock...I just bring up to my shoulder like it was Marlin .30-30 and shoot the thing.

One deer went to one needy family, the other three went to a different, very large family...they make a couple quick calls to some other relatives in the area and that deer is processed and divided up in no time. And I've got my doe tags to fill so if my luck holds, I'll be able to help their grocery bills some more...a win-win for everybody involved!

It's one thing to be a good hunter, but a bad shot.

Another to be a bad hunter, but a good shot.

Both of those types will still get the deer py playing to their strengths , or with just a bit of luck.

Looks like neither problem is your concern.

:hatsoff:

I look at your photos and all i can think of is when will it be my turn. This will be my son's first muzzleloading season and we have a beautiful 14 pointer than frequents our field. The excitement is growing

Wow...now that's a buck I'd like to see!
Interesting situation...on the one hand it's you Son's first hunt and you hope he's scores...on the other hand, if he was to shoot that 14 pointer, I'd wonder if it might take the shine off deer hunting for years to come, every other buck he saw might seem disappointing, etc...hope he has a good safe trip, and getting to make a shot would be icing on the cake...

If I were him, I think it would take the pressure off for the rest of my life! :rotf:
