Greetings,
Just wanted to share two pics of some light engraving I did on a flintlock pistol several years ago.
This pistol was built for the then outgoing president of Old Salem. I was not working there at the time, having left a year or two before this pistol was built, but I occasionally did sub contract work for them.
The lock was from a kit, and the barrel was purchased also. The stock was hand made, carved, and the silver wire inlet by the stockmaker. The mountings are solid sterling silver, hand made by the director of Historic trades at the time. The trigger was hand made also.
I was commissioned to engrave it. These are the only two pics I have on the hard drive right now.
I used a hammer and chisel for this job. The trigger guard had the president's initials on it, and "Salem NC" was engraved on the barrel.
I haven't engraved many muzzle loaders recently. I'll have to go through my files. The first gun I ever engraved was a traditions flintlock, but no way I will show those pics! Even these look kinda rough to me now.
Thanks for looking!
Tom
