I'm joking.The patch is actually DEaccelerating away from the ball, due to drag. Drag is but 1 of the 6 factors of External Ballistics.
That does seem to be. The red line is different in each picture, with the second picture having more redlines. Burning powder is lighter than the ball and patch, so it travels faster. That is just my .02 cent opinion.a spark.

That's exactly what I was wondering too.I wonder if those ball were fired by compressed air, being so clean and no smoke or flame in sight. That would make for a better photograph in a photo lab.
Maybe a piece of red thread for the "flight path" for the camera to focus on ?What is the red line seen in the pics?
