Hey guys, your thoughts or comments on the Pietta or Uberti 1858 Remington?

Midway has a sale on this at the moment on the Pietta.

Thanks

Pietta may be OK and some here like it very well, but, Uberti IMHO is the only way to go. For the few dollars diff. in price, you will be happier with the Uberti.

Uberti all the way, I handled some pietta guns at a local BP shop, and thought they were pretty good, I then checked the forums and found everyone recommending Uberti, despite the price, so I decided to take a chance and order a Uberti, I'm glad I did.

Fit and finish is superb, the blueing is fantastic, and it seems to lock up tighter than a pietta, I have a Uberti 1858 Remington that I ordered just a month or so ago, and i'm extremely happy with it, it's my new favorite gun. Make sure you get bigger than .451 balls, the .454 just shave off a complete ring, i'm considering ordering .457 next time.

Another thing, if you're reenacting, the uberti would be a better choice because it has the " Cal. 44 black powder only" mark on the underside, pietta puts it on the side of the barrel.

I think it's a toss up any more.
Pietta monitors the re-enacting and cowboy shooter boards and they listen to complaints and their quality has really improved.
I have both and can't say I prefer one over the other.

Ubertis are $100 more. Most reports say that the better quality is the reason. I have a Pietta. Would sure like a better one. Eventually, I might get myself an Uberti.

I would dearly like one converted to cartridges..in the proper 1870's manner. There's a guy that does this...Millington I THINK is his name. Very neat.

I have an Uberti 58 and my Brother has a Pietta. He loves his and I love mine. Cabela's also has the Pietta 58 on sale for $189. With the improvements in the Pietta product over the past few years How can you go wrong? Good luck with whatever you decide. Let us know what your gonna get and don't fegit pics!!...for us gun porn addicts  .

Can't tell you about the '58, but I have '51s from both manufacturers. The Uberti wins, hands down. Unlike most Navy's that shoot sort of high, like 8-10 inches at 25 yards, the Uberti is dead on.

Pietta or Uberti 1858 Remington?
I have both and either functions well but the Uberti is finished much better. If nothing else, it has less writing on it as to the Pietta which has writing all over it.

Just Bought a Cimmarron Arms tuned Uberti 5 1/2" barreled Remington. Great feel nice fit and finish. I bought it for a dual purpose pistol- both for the BP, and for the conversion cylinder I have in .45LC. The cylinder for the conversion just dropped right in, and indexed properly.
Cimmarron proofs all the pieces of the pistol the barrel, the cylinder and the frame at 1.5 time the max load. This will be my a PB pistol that I am sure will last for many years. Sorry if this sounds like a advertisement but I am so happy with this revolver I had to tell you about it. I have handled a few iettas and still feel they have a touch to go to match the Uberti.
