Howdy!
A friend built himself a nice little forge and asked me to show him some stuff. I said sure, pick a project, and he picked a pipe hawk. It was a good choice, as we got to go over various forging operations such as swaging, drawing out, forge welding the bit in and splitting for the eye.

Thought I'd post a few pics. We used a piece of thick-wall machine tubing about 3/4 inch ID and a piece of worn out old file for the bit.

If it was mine I'd have filed it to a nicer finish and polish, but he was happy with the rustic look (and I agree, it looks pretty dandy).

Thanks for lookin!

Hey Chief! No idea yet, feller needs to make a handle for it yet, I'll let ya know though as I'm curious myself!

I call it "liquid inspiration", not to be mixed with powder but definitely acceptable for those long forging sessions with friends
