Here is one I just finished up. Forged from 1x1 1/4 mild steel. Piece of plow steel forge welded in for the cutting edge. Hand carved white ash for the handle. Mild steel end cap and deer antler for the clean out plug. Lightly aged. Sealed and ready for smoking.

Yes, This one is sharp and heated treated for use.

Thanks everyone for the knid words.

I want one! That is a beautiful piece of work. Do you sell these? If so, how do I go about getting one?

Hallo all,
And I will be the lucky devill who owns this beauty!
Some time back I asked the members of this forum if they could bring me in contact with a good custom tomahawk builder.
"La Bonte" suggested this excellent craftsman to me in early august. He even mentioned this info:
"For a custom pipehawk - Stuart Willis www.swillisforge.com - excellent quality and a good price.... "
I took the advice, contacted mr. Willis and voilà there is an excellent piece of work that I will proudly carry with my flintlock and other gear!
Thank you people on the forum for pointing me toward the right direction!
And again a big thank you mr. Willis!

That is a very beautiful piece of work! I wish I had talent like that; here is a picture of a 'hawk I commissioned a friend to make for me a couple of years ago. It is made from a piece of rifle barrel so while it is fairly sharp, it probably won't hold an edge long.

Unfortunately, Richard isn't doing much forge work lately as he has a day job and other commitments.

Glad it worked out for you - and despite what Stuart says about his skills - they are excellent - I've got one of his pipehawk heads for building into a piece and it is top notch work.... :hatsoff:

Stuart, you are too modest; I would love to have one of your 'hawks. And I apologize for hijacking your thread. Anyone who can forge a hawk head from a chunk of iron deserves my respect. Your 'hawk is able to be used whereas mine is more of a "carrying" 'hawk. By the way, very nice website, you do very nice work!

I have to say that is one fine pipe tomahawk. That early style is by far my favorite. IMHO you really did an excellent job !
