How hard is pipestone to carve? Do you need to soak it in water first? Kick in any ideas you might have about making a pipe.

pipe stone I use a hacksaw to carve out the shape I use a drill for the bowl and stem hole. after that itis file and sandpaper work . after you get it where you want it . use fine steel wool . After you getit smooth like glass warm it up over your stove notto hot smear lard over the pipe stone as it will season the stone. so it wont crack with heat.I hope this helps you out.markWyoming Territory
