After having to sell all my guns for medical reasons I'm looking to get a pistol kit for a winter project. The one I'm looking at is the Cutlass pistol from Classic Arms. I was wondering if anybody has one and what their thoughts on it are? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

Well, if you just want a novelty piece that might be fine but if you want one to actually shoot and be able to hit something with there are better choices.

I have to agree with rebel.
Also, I'm hoping you have a real short winter up there in Minnesota because even if you only work on that Classic Arms gun for 15 minutes a day you will probably have it done in less than two weeks.

If you can afford it, I would suggest the Pedersoli Kentucky, Lyman Great Plains Pistol or the Traditions Kentucky.

While any of these are also fairly fast to build and make good starter kits for new builders, at least there is enough to do to keep you occupied for a longer period of time than anything made by Classic Arms.
Not only that, but you will end up with more than a paper weight.

I purchased a Traditions Kentucky kit for only $119. As the others said it was not all that time consuming, but it does shoot very well. If you want to get creative, there is enough xtra material on the stock to get fancy with some engraving. :)

I must echo the same sentiments.

The Classic Arms "kits" are neither very challenging nor very useful, but "might" leave you with a decent looking conversation piece. If you want something with results that can be put to shooting use, I would suggest the Lyman GPR or the Traditions Trapper. I'm not sure if Deer Creek is still manufacturing their line of CVA look-a-likes, but that would also be a viable option. There's probably someone on here who would know...

Regards and please continue to heal up,
