I finished inletting the lock on the Kentucky pistol that I'm building from a blank. After building a longrifle, this one seems a lot easier, even though I had to shape the stock and inlet the lock. I got the blank from Vernon Davis and had him inlet the barrel and drill the ramrod hole for me. I am really pleased with it, even though I almost didn't get it because he sent it to the wrong address.
I moved the lock forward enough that I wouldn't have to drill into the breech plug when I install the WL touch hole liner. After starting to inlet the lock, I started worrying that I might have gotten it too far forward. When I drilled the hole for the rear lock bolt, it was almost touching the back of the barrel. I also got the lock a little higher than it should, but there should be enough room to fit the WL liner on the side flat.
I'm going to wait to shape the grip until after I install the trigger, in case I need to adjust the pull length by shaping the grip. So far this has been a fun project and I'm afraid I might have to do another one when this one is done.
