Tell me more about the red India ink. I've been thinking of using red as a substitute for ocher in engraving a buffalo horn.

Fine looking pistol, too! I really like the inlays.

Hello,

The red ink is from a "calligraphy set" I offered to my wife some years ago ! Actually, this ink is "translucide" and supposed to be used in writing on paper.

There are different colors : yellow, red, blue, green and black.

The yellow ink gives a very nice color also.

The blue and green ones have not been tried yet !!!!

By the way I tried some fake tigerstripes with the black ink : the color was perfect but I was not satisfied with the pattern and reluctant to wreck the pistol ; I also bought from TOW a brass butt but eventually I did not dare cutting the wood to install it.

Later on, when the varnish will be dry, I will strip the varnish from the german silver inlays...

Ther has been 6-7 brownings on the barrel which was reluctant to get brown but finally did, but only 1 or 2 on the other steel parts that have now an antique look.

Regards

hello,

The fiber of the wood is not parallel to the barrel but rather 45° ; I have been told that this not correct and may explain the weakness of the grip.

Would anyone have an opinion ?

Thanks
