Ever say that to yourself when you are showing off how well your favorite smokepole shoots?

Even the most well cared for, properly cleaned, precisely tuned muzzleloaders will misfire...

When showing off, ever get embarrassed...

I was proudly demonstrating my new Bess to a friend and showed how it could be fired with the bayonet attached. It fired, but the bayonet - front lug "sight" still gripped in the locking groove - ended up about 10 feet in front of us on the ground.

A trip to the gunsmith fixed it, but "harumph." Turns out a weaker joint was used as most folks don't fire ball with the bayonet attached. The lug was well brazed on the second time!

I thought "please don't mess up" was a mandatory short prayer followed by a silent...Amen.
Funny! Sometimes He listens.....a lot of times He's busy elsewhere.
