Hello and thanks in advance for any help. This was a hand-me-down and all I can find is G R Douglas 45 cal on the barrel. It appears to be silver inlay. The stock box was hand chiseled out. Gun barrel is 42" and 56 1/2" overall. I wish I knew the maker or even age. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Cal http://s426.photobucket.com/albums/pp346/Skyler1076/Flintlock/

G.R. Douglas made barrels...I have have several
of them and always pleased with 'em. Other than
that...the gun looks like a home built...what
can I tell you...I have never seen side panels
that long before...maybe that is a clue....

Looks like a representation of a golden age rifle. hence the bling bling. Definatly not an original. But a nice piece. Probably 1980s .Thats a wicked piece of curly maple

:( So I guess what you are saying in a polite way is it probably was not Daniel Boone's personal rifle. Darn! Thanks for the replies. Cal

Hi Cal,
It looks like the lock is one of those that Dixie Gun Works used on their mountain rifles. I think they were made in Italy or Japan. Also looks like the maker bought a bunch of stamped inlays from Dixie. The trigger is odd.

I agree with Dave. Most of the parts look very much like Dixie products. I'm guessing it might even be from the late 70's/early 80's. And even though it may not be a copy of any particular know gun or school, whoever made put a lot of effort and imagination into it.

Take it out, have fun with it, and take care of it. I think you got a real fine hand-me-down there.
