For the past few years, I have been doing a Poll of the Week with some breaks (When it becomes Poll of the Next Few Months). This is for people who have been sending me questions that they have been itching to ask. but not wanting to do it as a poll.

I am planning on reactivating the Poll of the Week on June 12. Since this is going to be the first time since I joined this board, would it be ok to post the results here as well as at their usual spots?

The current Poll of the Next Few Months is at my survey site at http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/1945/Guns/Survey.htm.

I have followed Tels' polls since he started them and I am certain that the folks here will enjoy them, and maybe learn a new twist or two in the discussions they promote.

Hiya! I noticed some familar faces in this forum.

You have sent me quite a few questions over the years. I should put some of the older queries up after I put up John Barber's query on the 12th.

I noticed some hot topics that should get some interesting results with everyone here. ::

Why?? Why do the same thing here?? over and over again and again. it's a nice place here, share different views, think beyond the box,,listen,,read,,learn; why make it the same? please, let it rest,, :boohoo:
Tele,,please let this site grow by itself,,i don't care what the polls say,,i like to think buy myself,,I don't need to "bleat" with the flock,,if I need "polls" I'll watch CNN...

Polls are "demographic" and word specific;

Do You like girls?
or:
Do You like women?

Do you like blackpowder muzzleloading?
or:
Do you like muzzle loading?

see? polls can be skweued(spl?)

Please Claude,,no "polls" here,,please ::

My suggestion to sumtacks would be to not open the post if it is about "Polls". I would like to see them and enjoyed them in the past. Just use the system I use concerning the dreaded in-line "muzzleloaders" and deny their existence and avoid all contact. Click on something else.

I like your polls Tele, and most people do, so post away...if I don't want to read them I won't read them...certainly not afraid it'll make me follow like a sheep...if I lived my life that way, I'd have long ago run out and bought "what this person said" or "what that person said"...instead, I enjoy draggin' my deer out carrying my TC Hawkens just fine.

So post those polls...in fact, Claude might consider creating a separate category called "POLLS"...how about it Claude?

Sumtacks:

The reason I did them in the first place is because other people had asked me to continue with them after I had done a survey 3 years ago.

I have been getting a few E-Mails lately asking when I was restarting it. Some people ask me to redo an old question while some give me new questions. They aren't all simple either if you had looked at the old poll results.

One of the hot ones was

56. Do you think that all of the increased attention in the media of modern muzzleloading (Inlines, saboted bullets, smokeless powder, etc.) is harming the traditional muzzleloading shooting?

Yes!
No!
Undecided.

Others are simple like:

46. What type flint do you use?
Knapped English
Knapped American
Cut Agate
Cut Novaculite
Duraflint
Other
Don't shoot flint.

while another was:

11. Why do you think aren't there more younger shooters in this sport of Muzzleloading?

A) Younger shooters are too lazy. They aren't willing to put in the
extra work and time needed with muzzle loaders. They're too
caught up in high capacity clips, semi autos, and long range
magnums.

B) Younger shooters don't have the time needed for this sport. Too many
irons in the fire?

C) Younger shooters don't have the extra cash needed, it's cheaper to
just shoot Dad's old 30 30?

D) A & B
E) B & C
F) A & C
G) All of the above.
H) Other

Now if you don't like a poll, then just don't click. That's it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As it is, I ALWAYS post it with a signature of

March 13th poll results
June 12th poll results

If you see that tagline, and don't want to participate, then just ignore the post.

I do believe that polls serve a function, to get a general idea on a specific topic...

It's a good way to conduct a survey and still keep people anonymous and free from rebuttal if'n their choice don't fit the norm...

Another vote for polling...

I think they are interesting in that they offer a sense of what the "norm" is by way of the percentages of the options voted for, and very interesting when the majority of the views shows a norm that does not hold up to fact and evidence that is available but either not accepted or unstudied.

Well,i like yer polls Tele, and besides, i think you should post them just to irritate sumtacks. LOL Great. now i'll have him on me instead of Maxi. :: :D

Rebel:

Oh I'll keep it up since the yea to nay ratio is waaayy into the yea. That plus the administrators said it was ok. ::

As it is, the current poll jumped up by one quarter of the votes since I posted the link here a few days ago. :shocking:

Looking at the results right now, I am not surprised that the Flintlocks and Percussion Locks (sidelocks) are running neck and neck. I am surprised that the Matchlock votes AND the Handgonne votes DOUBLED in these few short days. :shocking: :)

Only the Baltic Snaplock has zero users. Oh well, the ratio of the older lock types is interesting. Nice to see there are several of us into the Pre-Flintlock firearms! ::

you guy's are right,, I give-up..I'll submit my vote here as well as other places, and thanks for the reminder,,if I don't like it,,I don't have to do it. If you guy's want to do that, I'll support it.
Thanks fer readin my speak, and taking it so well,I guess it's just that popular votes haven't swayed my mind much,

Best of wishes to the polls,,and I hope the info shared is worthwhile too all.
To be honest, I cain't even find yer poll? The only one I ever seen here was from moosecat,,I voted fer .54!??(twice!)
