Who made such 'antique ball molds'?
Looking for a .440 ball mold.

Dixie has some that are similar. Their curling iron type. People have cut the loops off the handles and they look pretty good.

I'll second the Rapine company for correct ball molds. They don't have a website, but advertize in Muzzleloader magazine. I also have a .490 mold and need to get a couple other calibers!

Rapine makes good molds.

I have them in .395,.535 and .600....

All cast good balls. No complaints from me!

Rapine is what ya want. His address is Rapine bullet mould Mfg Co., 9503 Landis Lane East Greenville Pa. 18401 Phone number is in the links section, and his catalog is two bucks. I think they run about $60. There's other makers listed in the links, but his are the best bag moulds. .440 should be in stock Bill

I'll 5th that! Rapine is the way to go, if ya can afford it. I have several in .32 to .715 and all work very well. I use them to cast my balls at the shoot when I get there, fresh is best :rotf:

The Dixies are made of brass and the ball cavity sometimes has striations from the machining. Some leave a pretty ugly ball.

I have seen some better than mine...

My Rapine is a lot better.

Smiling Fox Forge has steel "scissor/bag" molds in .395, .440, .490, .530, .660, .678 & .715 with a .735 coming soon. They sell for $65.00. their bag molds have straight handles rather than curved but they might be curved after the fact.

Thank you guys.
Rapine is the one i'm looking for.
But unfortunately no web page. :shocked2: :(
So i will try Smiling Fox Forge.
