I would like to make my own possibles bag for hunting. Any one with good information on pattern,best leather and so on would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this but am pretty handy.

you could try TC Alberts book, Recreating The 18th Century Shooting Pouch, sold by track of the wolf. he is also a forum member here. i use pigskins, some buckskin and cowhide from a local tannery to make my pouches. ive used the above mentioned book and it has several paterns. you can also print pictures out and use a copier to blow them up to form patterns as well
 
8" by 9", upside down D pattern, 2 pockets, tapered gusset. Holds everything you need. Simple to make. Small enough to use scrap leather pieces.
