A long time ago, I was at a gun show where a guy had a bunch of unknown bottles, glass stoppered bottles covered in fabric. He didn't know what they were and thought they were early canteens. He had a bunch and they were pretty cheap.
Later, I saw these same pictured containers somewhere (Maybe Dixie Gun Works) listed as powder containers from way back when. They struck me as marginal for BP as fragile, but were about the size of a pound of BP and were dry and kinda flat.
Anyone know of the history behind glass powder containers? If that's what they were?
