Okay, newbie post time. I was topping off my brass cylinder powder flask with some FFG and went to screw the cap on and noticed a few flakes of stray powder on the cap threads. I cleaned them off and screwed the cap on , no issue. But it had me wondering if a few grains of powder got crushed in the threads if it could cause the flask to ignite. And since the flask is basically a pipe bomb in my hands, I thought I'd at least ask if it was a concern. I'm still new enough that BP makes me overly cautious . -Thanks

Brass is non-sparking. No problemo.

I still make a concerted effort to make sure the threads are clear brass or no.
Not here to debate any wisdom but can’t BP, when mightily compressed, ignite?

Not unless you're using a match or cigarette lighter to see by when filling.

I do not use a brass flask to transfer powder from storage. Pour the powder into a measure and pour from the measure into the barrel.

In all honesty folks worry too much about BP and shooting it. If it were that dangerous, it would have been outlawed a long time ago.

When was the last time any one heard of someone being blown up using it?

I just knew someone would have some firm documentation, thanks. Need to send condolences to the widow.
