I know it has been asked and answered previously, but i cant locate, so i'll ask again, what is the most prefered # of F's (real black) for .54 percussion rifles shooting prb's? Thank's

Some swear by 3F and others prefer 2F. Try both and settle on what YOUR gun likes, not what some other gun likes. You will be happier with the results and will have the pleasure of both experimenting and acquiring first hand knowledge of the differences (in your gun) between the two.

I have used both in my .45 thru .54 rifles and find that either will work just fine. Just a matter of working out how much of either is good for your gun. Trying both is a good idea.

Old timers used to say that anything 0-50 cal use 3F anything over 50 cal use 2f.

I use 3f for everything and it seems to work fine.

The important thing is to be consistant in the type and amount you use.

Thanks,
Foster From Flint

Im probably going to be limited to buying one kind rite now, hoping there is a BP gathering of some kind near here in the near future where i can buy a pound or 2. Have only shot pyro. RS until now & have a new LB of 777 to shoot. I dont shoot very much & not NEAR as much as I'd like.

It has been my experience that FFF will give the same results a FF in rifles with about 10% less powder. Which for me means 10 % more shots/lb. But for the shotguns I stick with FF. :idunno:
