TW,

Would you care to be more specific?? Powder horns were bigger or smaller during different time periods as well as being typically different sizes in different geographic locations in different time periods.

Randy Hedden

Randy's right,TW, Horns ran big up through the revolution, with 15-18 inches around the curve a good average and holding a pound or so.Big bore guns, lots of enemies, big critters and chancy supply. After the revolution bore size shrank due to depleted big critters and lack of redcoats to shoot, and a large horn was not necessary. Then Lewis and Clark discovered Grizzly B'ars and bore size and big horns were in style again!
