Just finished this one. It's for my .32 Crockett rifle, set at 40 grains of FFg.

Thanks. Yes sir, carved the turtle and the snake, one on each side. Represent longevity for turtle and silent swiftness for the snake.

Very nice! I have some antler tips that need to be used. Any tips on how to hold them when you drill? Thanks, Allen

Very nice work!! A question on the granulation and charge for that .32.....I would imagine you have worked up a load, but 40 gr of ffg? My squirrel rifle likes 25-30 gr. of fffg. Less fouling, easier loading.

Wrap some of the antler in some buckskin and pinch it with a vice, just enough to keep them from moving and GO SLOW!

40 grains is the load I worked up for smallish pigs, javalina, yotes, and turkey. Pretty much all I use that rifle for these days. I have a brass powder measure for lighter loads when I go play with squirrels.

Here is a little trick that I use to drill a straight hole in antler tips, I draw a straight line with a pencil down the center of the tip then draw an x on the top of the antler tip on center to start my drill with about a 1/8 drill. I then hold the antler tip with my hand and drill down using the pencil line as a guide I then drill down as far as I can with the 1/8 drill. Then I hold with pliers and drill with larger drill bits and they follow the 1/8 drill. I slowly drill with bigger bits until it will hold the amount of powder I require . Be darefull not to drill thru the side with the larger drill bits. If you hold the antler tip up to a brite lite you can tell when the wall is getting thin it's a little trial and error but it works for me I've made several.
