Really depends
a. where you live.
b. what YOU call expensive.
c. how much you want a gun that is not only not made anymore, but shares nothing but a few screws [now gone, I bought the last lot a couple of years ago] with anything Ruger currently make.
Here in UK a fellow shooter, looking for one for over a year, lucked in to a giver-upper, and bought it for just under $500 - that, my friend, is a steal over here, where most s/s ROA are hitting 700-800, even 1000.
In fact, the last TWO that I saw, both blued shorty barrel versions, hit $1100 each, and were sold three days later when I dropped by for some melting lead.
My tip to any of you is - buy as many as you can find right now. For sure there will never be any more, if RUGER are to be belove.
If gun laws here were like yours, I be's buying every one I could find.
