I have had time for the first time in a year and a half to work on my rifle. I finally fitted the buttplate and have the toe plate 80% inletted. Then the ramrod thimbles and sights. Then it's all wood work save one decoration on the cheek piece. I can almost smell the powder...

When it's done I'll have a late Lancaster/Early Golden age flinlock. I say that because it is a Late Lancaster but the German silver furniture would date it post 1800 as I found out later.

Powder horn is nearly finshed and the measure has been carved for some time now.

Touche`! I did sime homework on loads and velocities w/ Green mountain barrels, it's still a guess but I picked a grain volume that should give me enough velocity without burning an ourageous amount of powder. Approx. 67 gr fffg, but yeah, it's a shot in the dark. :: But if that load doesnt' work I get to make another one!

any excuse to do more period projects. :relax:

Just checkin on ya.

I wish I had the brain and hands (and tools) for the metal parts of gun construction. I worked in a cabinet shop, (my Father-in-Law was a cabinetmaker/carpenter) so the wood bits don't scare me. The metalwork sure does, though.

If I keep checking in here I'll eventually become inspired. ::
