While I love the aged look of Potassium Permanganate on horn and bone, it appears that it doesn't wear very well. Are there tips/tricks on protecting the finish and preserving it from the ravages of normal use?

Thanks, Smollett

Try a coat or two of boiled linseed oil. It still doesn't add a lot of protection, but it does seem to help. Also it tends to age somewhat itself.

Perhaps something like Tru-oil would be more durable if you could tolerate the shine it leaves.

PP will fade no matter what you coat it with from the UV rays of the sun. Waxes with UV protection helps a little and is better than nothing. RIT clothing dyes, boiled onion skins, sumac, hair dyes, some leather dyes and cold smoking are more color fast.
