Well last Sat. we had our annual NC State Shoot at the Lafayette Longrifle Club. Brought my two oldest daughters, 12 and 10 with dear old dad to enjoy the friends, the beautiful weather and of course the shooting. Had a wonderful time and met a lot of new friends. The most amazing thing though was watching my oldest compete in her first Junior Shooting Match and the 10 year old in her first Hawk Throwing match. Made dad proud to watch them but even more proud when they BOTH WON :D :peace: We now have two Junior State champs living at the house. I couldn't be more prouder of those girls :: Of course, dad shot like, well, let's just say I need to start taking lessons from my daughter :hmm: Anyway, I have been telling anyone who wil listen and I know the good folk on this web would be able to truly understand the emotions of watching your children learn and enjoying themselves. The 10 year old now wants her own gun :shocking: and the 12 year old wants a new hawk since her sister won't give the old one back. Still grinning even after a week.

A good point for when they both start dating... :winking:

You can tell their prospective boyfriends: "My daughters are champion tomahawk throwers, get fresh with them and you could loose something..."

Lance Butler,

concrats they are the future of this thing of ours :imo:

snake-eyes :peace: :) :RO:

Lancer,
So many dollars for the outfit, so many dollars for the gun, your daughter winning in front of all those people, pricless! Dittos for the tomahawk thrower. :redthumb: Do you think they'd use something like that for the commercial? :shocking: Wouldn't it be great? :haha: :D Like the time my son and I won the partners clay bird match by simultaneously breaking the last two birds. :: I sure feels good. :RO:
God bless.

Job well done DAD. :RO: I also have two girls 15 & 12. The oldest took her first deer last year. Both girls are going with me this year. I am trying to get them interested in doing bead work and shooting B/P. It is always fun for the girls to go to school and tell the boys what they did over the weekend. :blah:
So that more of us dads might be able to share with our kids, how did you get you daughters started. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I know exactly how you feel, and it's the best feeling any parent can have. My 8 year old son won all the kids events at our local Rendezvous this summer. Rifle shoot, and Hawk throw. Though we're proud of are kids no matter how they do, this is truly the icing on the cake. Next year he goes on the Woods Walk event with me as my partner.

Congradulations to your girls for a great job. They both deserve a "Well Done"... :applause: :applause: "Well Done Indeed"... :applause: :applause:

Thanks everyone for all of the kind words. I truly am proud of the both of them and I have two more girls waiting in the wings as well :shocking:. Zman, all I did was mention camping and they started to get excited and then they started watching me shoot and wanted to try that. I honestly think they thought they could do a better job and I think they were right. :( After that, I can't keep them away from the club now. I'm trying to get the oldest into the club as a junior member. The 10 yr. old is pestering me for a gun this Christmas so I'm trying to find a nice .36 in a small frame. Thanks again all for the words and encouragement.
