Completely refinished an old style TC Hawken stock from the 70's...this early style has a longer LOP, more drop at the heel, and is a decent looking piece of wood in perfect unblemished condition.

Had an antique furniture place chemically strip the stock, then I alternated coats of Tru-Oil & #0000 steel wool...added the new style parts to strengthen the wrist/lock region against cracking, made minor mods in the lock mortise to drop-in flint lock assembly, polished up the brass, and installed .50cal Flint RB barrel on it from a different stock.

Planning to christen it Saturday morning...will try to take a couple picks this weekend

Sounds good to me! Years back I bought a TC brand Magnum railmount pistol scope. When I went to change it to another gun, the guys at TC told me that the mount was no longer available about 18 months after I bought it new. When I did not like that answer, they said "Tough". They refused to support their branded product. I stopped buying anything they sold that day and still will not buy anything from them. The older guns were very strong and looked nice. My brother-in-law, my cousin, my uncle, and several other family members all have the older TC's. They have been very dependable over the years.

Unfortunately, there still an old crotchety employee or two there that seem to have an attitude problem like you described, and I ran into one about 10-12 years ago.

Some counter clerk was balking at fixing something that clearly should have been covered under lifetime warranty...I hung up, called the Service Manager and basically told him TC either has a lifetime warranty or they don't on such and such a part...asked him to take a stand one way or the other and I'd deal with it.

Without hesitating, he agreed it should be covered, told me to send it directly to him and I've continued to do so anytime I've had an issue ever since then...the problem is not TC in general...they're outstanding...they just got an individual or two with an attitude...if you ever want something taken care of properly, don't even bother calling...just priority mail it to Service Manager Tim Pancurak's attention with a nice memo and start checking your mailbox in a week or two.
