Hey all

I have three 44 cal Cap & Ball revolvers, brass framed 1858 Remington, 1851 Navy 44 Brass frame, and a Dance brothers 44 steel. Would the 30 gran pellets be ok to use in these?

thanks

Gary

It may or may not ignite so I'd say that these are more trouble than they are worth plus compared to granulated black powder, the pellets are really expensive. It's been my experience that traditional black powder such as Goes is more reliable, cheaper and easier to use. Save the pellets for those devices that we shall not mention herein.

30 grain pellets are a bit much for the brass framed revolvers.

Loads of 20-23 grains produce a big bang and are less likely to damage a brass framed gun.

Just one of the reasons I don't like pellet powder charges.

Been awhile since I read a post on these pistol pellets. IIRC previous posters said they worked ok. Cost is quite high.

Yeah, save pellets to help you start fires, but I doubt it you'll get'em to start real easy. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:  pellets are made out of pyrodex .And that stuff is hard to ignite. But I used to shot a pa-pellet flintlock that you could get to fire reliably with pyrodex in the pan and in the barrel .Now that I think about it it really seems kind of amazing. :hmm:

When you seat the ball on top of the charge they crush which gives you a variation of how the powder is in the chamber every time. Sometimes why accuracy suffers when using pellets. Consistency is accuracy.

I think everyone should try em once and see what you think. Maybe give them to some one else to try later.

I found them harder to load into the colt then into the remingtons. I also noticed that some were chipped wich im sure changes the load.

I did think 30g was a bit stiff

You cant beat how easy they are if your into that.

I wish T7 had the pistol pellets ide like to try theirs.
