I personally do not own a percusion rifle but I have a good friend who has one of the above mentioned rifles and I would like to post a problem we have had with his. After a great deal of shooting we started having lock problems with his rifle. I took the lock off and found out this lock did not have a cast, sturdy, bridle. The bridal is just a flat piece of steel with a raised bead down the middle. This flat piece of steel was now bent. We tried beating it flat with a hammer, re hardning the metal and nothing worked for long.
I tried looking at other bridals to see if one could be modified to work on the Browning lock.
I cound not find a solution. It is a shame it is a shooting piece of plunder when it ain't broke.
So I ask if any of you precussion shooters have had a similar problem and if so how did you fix it. I want to see this beast back at the range again!
