Hello All!

I would like to make my own stock for my CVA bobcat. I have a nice piece of cherry and am fairly good at woodworking, but I have never made a gun stock and have several questions. I've searched the board and found a lot of good tips for the finishing and inletting. Is there a book or website y'all can recommend that has detailed info on starting with a hunk of wood and ending up with a gun stock? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mikey,.... I'd recommend the book, "The Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle",....

yep im with RollingB i would also add a book on making shotguns called
Re creating the double barrel muzzleloading shotgun by Bill brockway.
he goes into the building from blanks in depth and shows you how to line up the grain as well as how to measure pull , cast on and cast off ,crating a centerline and even how best to cut out you blank to give you the best possible chance of seeing the grain your looking for . couple this with the "The Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle",.... or Recreating the american longrifle and you should have most the info you will need

Thanks guys! Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for, especially the part about lining up the grain and getting good measurements for length of pull, etc. I will definitely check them out. :redthumb:
