I needed a birthday gift so I turned this compass box from a nice piece of walnut. A coat of sealer, friction polish, wax and it's ready to put in the mail today.

Very, very nice. Ever think about making the actual compass also? I've wanted to do that for years, but never found the time.

Yes, I have. Drafting the compass card would be the most challenging part. I could do it on the computer and print it but that wouldn't be kosher. Perhaps it could be engraved on brass but it would involve a lot of straight lines that, if not perfect would look really bad. Maybe it could be scrimmed on a flat piece of horn.

Would someone please tell me where I could get a compass to be used for projects. Woodbutcher
