Hi all. I'm looking at parts and trying to decide on a couple pc questions. Which is more period correct on a "Virginia" rifle as well as a "Early Lancaster"? A "large siler" or "L&R"? In the TVM Virginia component set they recommend either "L&R classic" or "L&R Queen Anne".Thanks.

It's more common to see English-styled locks on Southern guns than on Pennsylvania guns, and the L&R Queen Anne would be in that vein for a Virginia gun. So it might more clearly say, "Southern". But both English and Germanic styled locks were found in both places.

I agree, a lot of overlap as far as styles and location and time frame. Can't wait to see what all the EXPERTS are going to say on this thread on this subject. Whatever is said, find a picture of what you like, study it and build from that. Your building your gun, not a museum piece[or are you?] I've built upwards of 40 guns, mostly southern and tennesse, and I use elements from the originals while building them and have never had a complaint about whats correct or not. Good luck and enjoy building! :)
