Yeah , either thread will work just fine . I go with 10/32 for a little extra strength but its marginal if anything . Cherry .... I like working cherry . Just a couple coats of shellac or two coats of brown leather dye then shellac looks good on cherry

On pic with two trade guns ...bottom is plain cherry shellaced , top walnut ....other pics are cherry stock too. Darker one , first pic Cherry with brown leather dye then shellac ...other , just shellac

Beautiful work.
Shellac is such a good sealer/finisher. (I imagine you are mixing your own from flakes?)
I don’t know why I haven’t been using shellac on my gun stocks… I always use it on my instruments.

Nope , I just buy ... I found this great shellac with an amber hue to it and just love it .

If it were me, I’d use 8x32 as most attachments are standard, but i also. Don’t use the loading rod to clean. I use a separate cleaning rod made of aluminum. The only time i worm or jag out with the loading rod I’m jagging out bore grease before i shoot it.

Try the flakes (Shellac Shack sells them). Get Dewaxed. You simply mix with alcohol, stir and you have the good stuff. (Store bought shellac has a shelf life that can be an issue.) You can mix as thin (or thick) as you like. Good for French Polishing as well :)

I went with 8-32 years ago and when I have acquired anything different (Euroarms 1803) I convert them to 8-32.

I hate grabbing something to clean or whatever and it is the wrong thread.
Did the same thing, except I went with 10-32 on everything. Just handy.
I understand 8-32 was pretty common. But I have the do I need an 8-32 or is it 8-28, also seen on many fittings. One number is easy for me to keep in my head

The other way to go is put an end on both ends. 1 8 and 1 10. I wonder where the idea came from that an 8/32 is more period correct.
