Not long ago I saw a post around here indicating that October Country would no longer be making brass ramrods.

FYI...I just ordered two solid brass ramrods from them yesterday...I'm having them made up as follows:
3/8" x 32+7/8" with 10/32" threads on both ends

They used to make both the hollow and the solid.
I still get the solid ramrods from them but they have discontinued the hollow ones. The hollow ones are good for an under the barrel ramrod, especially if your packing it a long way or up a mountain as we are usually doing here.

Yes, both the tubular and solid are great, and I use them both depending on which rifle, etc.
FYI...to clarify, there may have been a misunderstanding during the fall'05 transition of October Country ownership from it's previous owner to the current owner...according to my conversations with the current owner this week, he plans to continue making both the tubular and solid brass ramrods business as usual...has more tubular stock on order as we speak.

I personally buy the brass bar stock, drill and tap each end. It usually comes out to about $15 from the local hardware store but I get to use the rod today.

Regards

You must of missed my thread on 12/31/05 about the two October Country Under barrel Ram Rods I just got.

October Country under barrel ram rods

They are great. Only mistake they made was misreading the length of one of the rods. They made it 2" too long. It's on its way back and they will be correcting it. Great Company and customer service.

My personal history has been small bore 4 position shooting. The added weight from the brass ram rod gives me the Anshultz off hand feel. It's a personal choice. :v

I agree, they are excellent...I use them for two reasons:
Weight for improved accuracy;
Extra Strength to avoid breakage / injury;

Have them on all my rifles
