Try Track of The Wolf. I really like the ramin wood rods but the hickory rods they sell are good also.

Ramin,to me, seems to be straighter. I think it is just as tough as hickory. The ramrod I use is made of Ramin wood. Granted,I don't shoot a lot (maybe use 1/2 lb powder a week),but I use my rifles ramrod all the time.I do not use or take any other rod with me when I go shooting.I am sure you would be happy with it.

PS: I soak my ramrods in coal oil (kerosene) for at least 3 months.

Ramin works OK but it just looks funny to me. I can tell it isn't hickory. They were getting up a group ramrod order on the American Longrifles forum.

My local hardware store carries Ramin wood dowels in various sizes. That's were I buy all mine and it allows me to pick and choose the ones I want.

I have always used straight grained hickory.

But, blundered across a flyer for white wax wood sapling shafts from China, claimed the wood was practically unbreakable?

So I says to myself, self, wonder how that would work out as ramrod material?

Here are Google hits on it.
