Well Hondo Lane and I spent the day at the gun club down here in Tomball on Sat. and I finally got a load worked up that my CVA frontier rifle really likes. It is however a pretty stout one. With a .490 PRB and a .15 patch over 100 grains of pyrodex P (I know I was shocked too) I dinged the turkey silouette 4/5 times at 200 yards. I aimed at the head and I'm sure I hit it low in the body when I did hit it, but that ding sure was nice to hear.

Good shooting! I haven't tried anything over 100 yards with mine. I've found 40 grains FFg at 25 and 50 yards and 50 at 100 is my best load.

Good shooting, is the Frontier a halfstock? I thought I have had about every type of gun CVA has made over the last 30+ years but I am drawing a blank on that one.

Frontier is a little shorter than a Hawken and has a flat buttplate like a plainsman and no patchbox!

good times buff, i can't wait to get out there again.

course next time i'll wear thicker clothes (that 100 grains through a plain t-shirt will tenderize a shoulder after 5 shots).

Howdy Gents!

What's the name of the club in Tomball? I will be visiting there this weekend; my niece is testing for her Taekwondo black belt.
