Hey Guys. Need some help/advice. Shot my brandy new 1851 Colt Navy. Very pleasant to shoot and remarkably accurate. Here's the prob - Caps would not seat. Very difficult to get on and get this; the first round of firing, the caps did not go off. I think the first round seated them. Second time around it fired every time. Anybody run into this before??

I just took my Walker out yesterday. I have had it out a few times now. Yesterday for the first time I hade ONE cylinder that would do the same thing. first run through it would not fire so would rotate it back to the cylinder, give it a second drop of the hammer and it would fire off fine.

Just kind of odd, it happened 3 separate times, and I fire at least 8 full cylinders worth. Worked just fine the rest of the time. Like you said, maybe didnt get seated all the way. :hmm:

Quite often factory-issued nipples seem to a bit 'fat' & don't allow the caps to seat fully. This can be fixed in a couple of ways 1. Chuck the nipple in a drill & 'thin' them down a mite with a fine-cut file, or better still 2. Buy a set of aftermarket nipples. I've never had any problems with the nipples I've purchased from DGW, or Cain's Outdoors. Nipples designed for revolvers generally come in sets of six.

I tend to agree with you. Because of the way this happened, I think I'll just go with a new set of nipples. Thanks

Latest update. For some reason, I received another set of nipples with the gun when I bought it. Don't know why but tryed these and they fit #10s perfectly. Does Cabales know that factory nipples from Italy don't fit?
