Team.
I want to make a rattle box for our gong range/bush walk. You know, the box you drop a ball in and it runs down the ramps back and forward till it falls out the bottom. Shoot before it exits.
I understand the layout of ramps etc. but what are the typical dimensions and angles of the ramps?
All assistance appreciated.

Sorry this may be not much help. The two that our club uses were made up using the educated eyeball method. 5 or 6 seconds of rattling is about right. A lead round ball rattles slower than a steel ball bearing or glas marble. So maybe this will give you a bit of fine tuning.

Jeff,

Another idea for you. A few years ago, I made one for the NMLRA Western Nationals. Using a funnel and some copper tubing, coiled up to look like a still. Drop the ball in the funnel, it rolls around and around the coils till it drops in the bucket below.

Works great.

 Good idea Dane; That's what our club uses. Wish I had some pictures to share but I haven't. However it seems to me that we used 5/8" copper tubing and this was just right for a .45 cal. lead ball. With this type you can "adjust" the time it takes for the ball to reach the bucket, by stretching the coils out a bit or squeezing them up some
